Ass Ponys - Calender Days (Lohio)

when hope is gone
we drag the pond
and try to look beyond
the dead end of summer
there's a haze hanging over the town

so hide your eyes
ignore the flies
and try to act surprised
it's the dead end of summer
when all of the grass has gone brown

oh, i've been x'ing out calendar days
there's a pattern to our time apart
do i still exist
in the bottomless pit of your heart

thrown or fell
it's hard to tell
the baby's in the well
at the dead end of summer
you better prime the divining rod

we'll drink unitl
we drink our fill
there's all this time to kill
at the dead end of summer
with the bugs singing louder than god

This one will probably not be deleted, because it's in the public domain in terms of copyright -- this vid. is probably not copyrighted by an entity such as a company or an individual or individuals. The problem with many of the other Association vids on youtube are that they are from live performances on such shows as "The Smothers Brothers" and that material is still copyrighted protected via Viacom -- CBS' parent company - the network that ran The Smothers Brothers show back in the '60's.

What a depressing day. Half of our great group's wonderful album cuts are gone. I wish there was a way we could buy the copywrites so that they could still be aired on here. :(

My girlfriend, Kathy, and I saw them in concert in June 1968 @ Melodyland in Anaheim, California ~ and I clearly remember them doing this song (along with my favorite ~ Time For Living). It was a great concert and they were a great band. In 1969 I was off to Vietnam and remember listening to Never My Love on my Craig cassette. Sadly, Kathy wrote me a "I simply cannot wait for you" letter in August of that year, and the love of my life was gone, but the 60's experience was something special.

This song did get radio play in L.A. when it came out. The Association was a very popular group of the time.

Can you believe another kick-butt tune from Terry Kirkman, the same soul who conceived that 60's love anthem, "Cherish." Wow, that guy could write from all ends of the spectrum. Terry, please reunite with your Association buddies one more time. It would be an honor to hear you sing! Thanks for years of great music!
